The Paterson Kona 24 will be located on a private property about 2kms from the township of Paterson. The property is the former site of the XCO Paterson Classic and is nestled in the rolling hills of the Hunter Valley. The site has a wealth of fire road and an extensive network of single track, so it should prove to be one of the most exciting 24-hour venues in the state. There is also unlimited camping space, asphalt access roads and all within 15 minutes of major facilites in Maitland.
The majority of this course will be single track which ranges from fast, flowy and friendly to technical and challenging. Expect a significant amount of climbing, as the trail is set against a picturesque hillside. However this also allows for some adrenaline-charged descending and a few novel touches along the way. The lap will be a single loop of approximately 12 kms in length which will be marked through the use of bunting, arrows and barriers to denote the course.
These trails are not open for any other occasion than HMBA-sanctioned events, so there will only be a single opportunity to pre-ride the course in April 2012, at the HMBA 3 hour club race. Please do not attempt to access the property outside these times as this could seriously jeopardize HMBA’s understanding with the land manager.
